Cryptic crossword No 1,017

Welcome to MyCrossword, Megabrain - your profile says you hoped to make me laugh, and you absolutely did, especially when the penny finally dropped on my LOI, 19a! That gets a hearty tick, along with a fair few others: 6a, 20a, 26a, 28a (very neat!), 9d, 19d (ha!) and 21d. There are some other nice ideas here hampered by their cryptic grammar (see next comment), but that's just a thing that comes with practice. I had a good, fun time solving, so thanks for sharing this puzzle with us!

Eventually I was stumped by the top right corner, though I shouldn't have been. Some delightful work along the way, though; especially 13a, 19a, 27a (personally I don't have any problem with this, and the superb surface excuses it anyway, IMHO), 2d (very clever, very concise, very topical; also very painful if you're a Marketing Unlimited supporter), 5d, 9d (cheeky!), 19d (as Panthera observes, ha!), 24d (groan!).
