Cryptic crossword No 1,075

The theme sailed right over my head, which given the cover photo is arguably for the best (but before I understood that there was one, you know I'd been expecting a picture of a basin, right? ;P) - ticks went against 17a, 27a (ha!), 1d, 14d (dunno if I've seen someone use the first bit of the wordplay there before, which is kinda surprising given the letters involved...) & 16d, though it took me a bit to justify the "a" with an imaginary comma. Thanks for the fun puzzle!
