Hi Snookered, and welcome to MyCrossword. There were some good clues in here, such as 23a, 15d and 19d, although there were a few issues too, which I'll mention in the reply. By way of general points, there's no need to punctuate each clue with a full stop (not all clues are full sentences, after all), and would it be possible to turn on annotated solutions under "solution settings" for this crossword so I can check a couple of parsings? Thanks...

Hi Snookered, welcome to MyC and thanks for your debut puzzle. I agree with tpg that you have constructed some nice clues, particularly 23a (neat), 7d (neat), 15d (nice) and 19d (fun and smooth). Several others aren't far off, but there are often a few filler words that distort the cryptic grammar - though I appreciate they improve the surfaces)...

Thank you both for the fair, considerate and constructive criticism. Very grateful for the input, especially the link provided (definitely need to brush up on the rules of the game!). Definitely posted prematurely but glad that I did: got a lot to learn but really enjoyed creating my first cryptic crossword. Working on another now which i'm sure will be tighter. Thanks again for the advice, guys.

A bit late to add my own welcome Snookered and, by the looks of your reply, it probably won't be long before we see a second puzzle. Good advice from both tpg and sirdakka and I would certainly recommend doing a bot of research which will help you recognise and avoid some of the issues. Chambers Crossword Manual by Don Manley is not a free resource but it would be £15 well spent to buy the book. I shall look forward to the next.
