Cryptic crossword No 1,301

Thanks Maya, a good bit of fun for a Monday morning. I particularly appreciated 10a, 12a, 20a, 8d & 17d among others. I do have some queries and possible suggestions, but for those I couldn't fully parse the annotated solutions being turned on would help.
