Cryptic crossword No 1,306

First of yours I've done Popcorn. Found it fairly straightforward, as others have said before 'Quiptic' style. Particularly appreciated 1d, 5d, 7d & 19d. A couple of queries I'll raise in reply, but posting the annotated solutions would be helpful in clarifying some uncertainties arising after solving. Thanks for setting and posting. First of yours I have done, Popcorn, and as did Ozp, I found it quiptic in style. Which is NOT a criticism. Enjoyable and pretty well put together. I enjoyed 12a, 15a, 22a, 1d and (almost) 19d in particular. Spoilers in reply. Thanks. PM

Thanks Popcorn, as PM & OzP have said an enjoyable 'quiptic' solve with plenty to enjoy - favourites for me were 9a (note: I think convention is that this would be enumerated as (4) rather than (1,1,1,1) but that enumeration did help!), 12a, 15a, 22a, 1d & 5d. Spoilers ...
