Cryptic crossword No 1,421

I struggled to complete this Tvertimod. It is not the friendliest of grids with only two connections between LHS and RHS so although the right was largely complete, I had some gaps in the left middle. You have some left field ideas and I was not on your wavelength all the way. I would certainly agree with Fez that the clues would be much fairer without superfluous words and, if you are going to use novel instructions, do make them precise. Thanks. PM
