Cryptic crossword No 1,515

Thanks Dyno, good to see another from you here. I found this a satisfying solve, with some great surfaces and a couple of impressive &lit clues. I particularly enjoyed 4a (nice), 11a (clever), 17a, 23a, 5d (clever), 7d, 12d & 16d among others. A couple I solved but was left unclear on parsing the wordplay - turning on the annotated solutions is really helpful for resolving such lingering questions, so I'd really recommend doing that.
