Cryptic crossword No 1,560

Thanks MadDog, and welcome. Plenty to enjoy here, my faves being 15a, 19a, 3d & 7d with lots of others 'nearly but not quite', just needing minor tweaks, eg: 11a, 12a (although not sure the answer is really a "thing" you might find in a dictionary, say?), 27a, 6d, 7d, 19d. Thank you for this! I had fun with it. I thought the two long answers particularly good, though would second Fez's comments. I definitely found the grid borderline unfair: so many instances of pairs of letters with no crossers (unches) makes things much more difficult than they should be - and it's a difficulty that, unlike a tough but fair clue, doesn't offer much enjoyment.
