Thank you, Haven. Enjoyed this a lot - favourites 5a, 24a, 6a, 11a (when I saw the explanation, and with my background I'm kicking myself for not getting it!!), 3d (v. clever), 4d, 15d, 16d, 19d, 20d. I think 1d and 5d, 13a are just a bit too "clever" for their own good (in particular 5d, 13a is incredibly ingenious but I don't think most people will get it without reading the explanation) but that's probably just me being thick.

Unlike Gollum, I was able to deduce the parsing for 5d 13a, but only in retrospect. I tend to agree that (along with some other clues) you're asking a lot of the solver. I liked 10a 21a, 18a, 3d, 8d, 16d and 17d.
