Cryptic crossword No 1,642

A note on the theme in the replies. Feedback welcome, as ever, particularly on whether this one is at all more accessible than my previous efforts. If anyone streams the solving of this crossword, I'd be very grateful if you'd let me know! Watching previous streams has been very helpful.

I'm not sure I found this that much more accessible than usual, Mallimack. Some super surfaces, as I've come to expect, and some cunning constructions and misdirection. The theme is unknown to me so was neither spotted nor useful in the solve, I'm afraid. Likes include 11a, 13a, 21a, 27a, 3d, 4d, 5d, 16d and 19d. Spoilers in Reply. Thanks. PM

Thanks Mallimack, another enjoyable "toughie" - on reflection, I think there were more "oh, I should've seen that!" rather than "wow that's tough!" moments so perhaps, yes, *slightly* more accessible ... not that difficulty per se is a problem anyway!
