Cryptic crossword No 1,666

Thanks for this — couple of clues I didn't totally understand but then there usually are, so that's probably on me. A nicely gentle solve all the same. 13a, 4d, 8d and 16d were probably my favourites.

Hi Alf. Sorry to take a few days to get to this but I'm glad I did. This was very good. Lots of smooth and precise clues. It would be useful to have Annotations enabled to check a couple of parsings but pretty much everything else was vey clear. Faves include 9a, 10a, 17a, 18a, 3d, 8d and 24d. Spoiler in Reply. Thanks.
