Cryptic crossword No 1,705

This puzzle with a few nods to my student days was originally set in 2019, so there are a few clues that may no longer cut the 1a.

Charming puzzle and enjoyed the literary allusions. Loved particularly the run along 6d 7d 8d and 9d! Proper laugh for 26a. Thanks for sharing here

10a's surface brought something specific to mind, and after 11a, I knew to be on the alert for some Norwich-centric content. Some nice stuff, with 9d my favourite. Big tick just for the UEA connection.

I found this smooth and the good kind of gentle! The theme is totally lost on me but I could appreciate how neatly it was done. 3d my top clue: a semi-&lit., perhaps?

Very enjoyable solve from my office in the fine city. Great memories of when I would 9d by reading 13a outside a 17d rather than studying in the 5a (EAS 97-00) - when were you there?
