Cryptic crossword No 1,759

Haha thanks Gumboot, a few rough edges / raised eyebrows but 19a theming 🙂 Spoilers ...

Thank you, Gumboot. Lots to enjoy here, favourites being 9a, 11a, 13a, 19a, 23a (very cleverly done - I wasn't familiar with the answer but managed to work it out from the wordplay), 27a 16d. Fez has identified more themed answers than I'd found. One or two of the clues are, I think, a bit wordier than ideal - I wasn't bothered by 11a but 3d and 22d felt like they went on a bit. But that's a minor cavil.

I thought a lot of this was very good, Gumboot. As Fez says, there *are* things that could be tightened but it was an enjoyable solve with plenty of smiles along the way. Likes included 7a, 9a, 11a, 13a, 15a, 28a, 3d (COTD), 5d, 8d and 17d. Thanks. PM
