Cryptic crossword No 1,843

Thanks Bombe, nice theming - fave clues 9a, 19a, 21a, 25a, 28a (but why the capital V?), 29a (a bit of a chestnut but nice), 2d, 7d, 23d & 26d. Spoilers ...

Enjoyed that, and even spotted the theme! Liked 17a (in its original version with the link word!), the unusual 16a, 21a, 28a, 7d, 15d...

I had a nice time with this! The theme helped, and the clueing was nice and perky. 8D and 18A beat me: the combo of the trickiest clue and the unfamiliar definition. 9A is my favourite of all.

I’m _very_ late to this Bombe, but was worth the wait! I particularly appreciated 16a, 17a, 25a, 4d, 7d among others and was lucky enough to pick up the theme pretty early on. While not intimately familiar with it, the themed answers were well enough known to help nicely with the solve. Nothing more to add to the extensive feedback and suggestions you’ve already had and acted on, so will just say thanks for posting and more please!
