Cryptic crossword No 1,977

Welcome to MyC Autiartist. If this is your first, it is not bad at all. As Fudgeller said, it's an impressive grid fill. I agree with most of his points - indirect anagrams are definitely out - and you do need to tighten up. Fewer words, consistency of parts of speech and plurals/singular and same-sidedness are the major issues. I had ticks for 15a, 16a and 1d (capital needed for Labour?). I look forward to your next.
