Welcome VPG and congratulations on your debut puzzle. Plenty to like here, including the chuckle from 3d, the deceptive definition of 1d, the smooth surfaces of 12a, 26a, and the inventive surprise in 8d.

Thanks VPG & welcome. Plenty to enjoy here, my faves were 9a, 10a (both with slightly weird but fun surfaces), 12a, 27a, 1d & 3d (another slightly disturbing image!) Good fun, but some 'technical' issues too (imho!) ... I'm a bit pedantic generally, but *if* you're interested in nit-picky (though hopefully constructive) observations, spoilers follow ...

Well done on your first puzzle VPG! Lots to like here, and only minor quibbles which others have already covered. I particularly liked 9a, 10a, 15a, 3d and 19d.
