Cryptic crossword No 2,057

1st!

Another cracker, Longyfan. I was away at w/e and have had a project occupying my attention til now; sorry to be so tardy. Plenty of challenging constructions and some tough synonyms made this a good challenge. Loads to like - 1a is a real laugh, 11a fun also, 14a nicely self-referential, 19a neat, 29a amusing, 2d is smooth as is 5d, 18d beautifully disguised and a nice couple to finish with 23d and 24d. Good fun albeit a little less … risqué than usual :D Contrary to the setter's opinion, I'm certain that 6A and 19A are connected by design. 19A is a clever clue :) Other highlights include 14A 16A (great surface) 29A 14D and 18D. Thanks, as always, for a wonderful puzzle!
