Absolutely superb, Fudgeller. Wonderful surfaces, silky grammar and a healthy dose of humour. I had ticks almost everywhere: 1a 18a, 21a, 23a, 24a, 27a, 3d, 5d, 19d, 26d, 28d remained after culling some, but I could have ticked them all! Spoiler...

Your tricky misspellings messed with my head. I ummed and aahed over 9d for ages - is it this, is it that? - then moved on and stumbled again at 14d and 15d. How the hell are we supposed to know? Then the PDM and I got that that was the whole point. It didn't matter so it left me thinking "what a great puzzle for April 1st!"

Wonderful Fudgeller! Such a clever idea and executed so well! The three relevant clues are all very well thought out, and I also liked 23a, 24a, 2d, 19d, 20d and 23d 4d.

A nice idea, well-executed. I cannot pretend I spotted it at the timeout allis clear on reading your notes. Some amusing and some very succinct clues in here. 5a, 9a, 16a, 5d, 23d/4d and 28d were my favourites.Thanks. PM
