Hi TP. I think Chissip gives good advice. I'd go a bit further. If you are just starting, select a grid with plenty of short words. If you are using the MyC standard grids, look on Page 5. You will be less likely to end up with some of those very long words that are hard both to define and to clue. Words of 4-9 letters can be very satisfying to both clue and solve. With fewer elements, you'll be less likely to confuse yourself and you'll end up with better surfaces too. Give it a go.

Thanks tpg. I got a bit further with this than your first one and I think your next will be better if you heed the advice given by PostMark. I liked 24a & 16d in particular. More in reply.
