Cryptic crossword No 2,134

Thanks maymes, my faves here were 1a (perhaps a tad wordy but nicely pieced together), 25a, 26a & 2d. Not sure 3d's "mackerel" is *quite* right but very funny so you probably get away with it (I'd expect a Y in the answer though, so a bit ambiguous) 17d also cleverly done, though "Dr Foster's" really needs something added so that the wordplay element can stand alone. A fair few quibbles though, so *if* you're in the market for hopefully constructive criticism, spoilers follow ...
