Cryptic crossword No 2,164

I had fun wrestling with this, liked 12a a lot and 14a was a good click, click, click clue. I spent a comically long time trying to get a synonym for frantic from the wrong bits of 23a - a satisfying “ah” as I finally twigged.

Very good. I enjoyed this. 11a was a favourite and I liked the surface 14a (although you do have a typo in the clue). But I was defeated by 1D which I can't understand as a double definition and none of the usual dictionaries support as a cryptic definition. Have I missed something? I did find, on investigating, though, that Protomagia is a Greek festival that involves flower wreaths.

Very busy week here, but I peeked at this and saw 10a first. Now that's style! Looking forward to the rest, hopefully soon.
