Cryptic crossword No 2,451

Great fun. Some great surfaces, the 2 that stand out are 17a and 27a, both of which I didn't solve until I had all the helping letters. Thanks.

That was fun! Nice difficulty curve too, steady away for a while but then got progressively chewier. Had to reveal 17a. Liked 8a 1d 3d, 15a, 2d and 29d. Further musings in the reply ->

I thought the least I could do was to return the favour, Skirwingle. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party. Some nice constructions throughout this fairly accessible puzzle. 11a, 21a, 27a, 28a, 4d, 16d and 25d were my faves. Thanks. PM
