It would have been helpful to have annotated solutions. So far as I can see, 16a pushes the boundaries to breaking point and 25a, 26a and 23d have some "padding" in them. But a lot of this is very fine, especially 9a, 14a, 1d, 2d, 15d, 17d. Thanks johninterred and contributors [SPOILERS IN REPLY]

Thanks John and well done to everyone involved - plenty to enjoy here. My favourites were 9a, 14a, 19a, 24a, 1d, 5d, 15d and 17d.

Sorry. I should have explained. This crossword was generated by the TImesfortheTimes community, with each clue allocated to a different contributor. Isla, who has commented below was the coordinator/editor and I assisted with some of the editing and publishing the resulting crossword here.

Thanks John and Isla, jolly good fun, dodgy homophones and all. Well done to all involved. To pick out a couple of favourites aside from those already mentioned by both Gollum and Raider, I thought 7d was great, and I liked the ‘meta’ 10a.

Delightful! Thank you to everyone!

Whoever wrote 22A deserves both a round of applause and a slap for the cheek! Also liked 10A, 18A, 24A, 26A, 5D, 7D, 15D, 20D and 27D. Well done to all involved!

Very enjoyable romp. Took a while to get going but once started I got into the groove reasonably quickly. With so many contributors I wonder whether different styles might have been the reason. I think I finished correctly, I pressed reveal and all the answers were as I had posted so hopefully that’s true. Thank you to everyone who contributed to a great piece of fun.

I'm assuming I've crossed the line successfully. Check and Reveal buttons don't appear to do much. Completed over the course of the evening with plenty of interruptions. Enjoyed it - thanks setters etc.
