Cryptic crossword No 2,580

Thanks Orinoco. I gave this a shot but I failed to solve a dozen clues & completely missed the theme. There were too many odd words for me but I'm not really an 'A-level' solver so take what I say with a grain of salt. I did enjoy clues like 8a, 30a, and 15d. Keep at it.
