Cryptic crossword No 27

I put this in the description, but can't see it here so: there are some difficult clues, tempered by a 23 theme.

Another very tough challenge but I made it! Not a fan of 23 so Google much in demand. Thanks for the workout.

Thanks Lohengrin this. I found it quite difficult, though also admired the craft. There are some top-drawer clues here - my favourites are 9A, 6D 21D - each of which are exquisite and for which I take my hat off to you.
