Cryptic crossword No 282

I’m not sure how much overlap there is between the crossword community and fans of this person’s music, but I’m hoping it’s not just me!

Thanks Piper, I enjoyed solving this and seeing the references along the way. I'm not an expert on this musician by any means but I spotted about half which is good going I think. I attempted a puzzle with song titles in clues previously and thus am impressed that you were able to incorporate the thematic material smoothly (certainly more so than I did!). Favourite clues were 5a, 11a, 19a, 28a, 3d (sneaky to put priest in there, kept me at bay for a good while...), 7d and 21d.

Nice one, Piper. I'm definitely a fan of the TJ and SC (not so much the later stuff). Interesting treatment, with the theme in the clues rather than in the solutions, and nicely handled. Favourites were 11a, 14a, 3d, 7d, 22d
