Cryptic crossword No 2,913

Welcome, Chameleon. Promising but I hope you don't mind some feedback. The anagram in 8a is weak, as is 'toward us' in 18d, as the important suffix 'ward' appears in both. Many would object to 'oVer second' for V in 9a (you may come to believe that such formulations are amply supported by ordinary language but nonetheless avoid them for a quiet life). In 12a the word order is rather unorthodox - do you mean that the fodder acquires ASS after being anagrammed. And is an ass a crack anyway?
