Thanks Cigogne for an excellent set of clues with many favourites including 10a, 11a, 17a,18a, 26a, 5d, 17d, and 21d. I needed your notes to parse 2d and 22d. I got through this without any reveals but I did resort to the 'guess then check' method on occasion. More in reply.

Hi Cigogne, full of delights as usual but hoisted by my own petard in 1d because I SO missed the meaning of bread! Favourites for me are 10a, 23a, 28a, 3d, 8d, 14d and 24d.

Hi Cigogne, I found this an engaging workout- my first experience of your setting. On the whole I thought the clues were very good, often particularly ingenious - though some (19a, 26a and 22d) defeated me, and the theme (albeit not officially stated as such) passed me by completely. Favourites included 9a, 11a, 15a, 17a, 19a, 20a, 14d, 17d and 21d. Many thanks!
