Cryptic crossword No 3,146

Thanks Gumboot, this was my first foray into your crossworld and I really enjoyed it. Some great clues - witty, elegant and concise. Particular favourites were 12a, 19a, 20a (hilarious and brilliant!), 25a, 5d and 22d. Having benefitted from some critical feedback myself I offer a couple of quiblets below…
