Cryptic crossword No 3,187

Thanks Lancastrian for a really nice puzzle - the first of yours I’ve tried. Some great surfaces and clever wordplay, engaging rather than off-putting. Lots of faves: 1a (top pick), 10a, 13a, 15a, 27a/8d, 26a, 4d (nice def), 16d, 18d, 20d (although it almost felt too clever), and 24d.

1a was my favourite, but I enjoyed 10a, 26a and the puzzle as a whole.

I don't think I've done one of yours, Lancastrian, and you've been here for a year now! So it's about time. This was largely solid cluing with some fun surfaces scattered through it. 10a, 13a, 25a, 5d, 7d and 21d my favourites. Thanks. PM
