Cryptic crossword No 322

With many thanks to Blah who kindly offered to test solve which he did with no small amount of humour, patience, wisdom and - by his own admission - pedantry! I am confident the puzzle is considerably improved as a result. SPOILER IN REPLY.

Thanks, PostMark. Completely missed the theme but enjoyed the puzzle a lot. 5a, 1d my favourite.

Relatively easy crossword but none the worse for that: mostly smooth and well-constructed clues. I liked 28, 5d and 24 particularly. Not so sure about 23 (as there are countless anagram indicators that are synonyms of rubbish) nor about 20, where I initially (hesitantly) put earshot. But good fun overall (and I also enjoy your regular contributions to fifteensquared).

Well done, PM, some interesting ideas here. Favourites were 9a, 18a, 6d, 18d. A couple of clues just need a little bit of polish to become very good - eg 20d
