Cryptic crossword No 3,228

I did need to check references that I didn't have top of mind - impressive amount of theme packed in here. Among my faves: 16a,18a,7d,24d (very clever blend of surface and solution)

I’m not Irish but I love what it means for you to be so! I didn’t find the puzzle easy, having to reveal a fair few, but I really appreciated its craft, integrity and passion. What a thing to say about a crossword! Thanks for opening the door into your world. Favourites included 10a, 12a/14a, 29a, 5d, 6d, 8d, 24d, 26d (which made me chuckle). PS Maybe some 9s would dispute the definition!
