Cryptic crossword No 3,381

Thanks Catnip, such a great thing to do, and so interesting to compare this with the original effort (nothing’s forgotten on MyC!) It gives a novice setter great hope. I was stumped by 6d (having forgotten the band) and puzzled by the (d) in your note to 3d which I referred to to confirm my understanding of ‘lining’- but otherwise everything went in nicely with some lovely aha moments. My particular favourites were 4a, 15a, 16a, 25a, 27a (loved it, including the capital!), 5d, 7d, & 16d. Cheers.

I realise I should have mentioned that I deliberately had no test solve on this, to match the way I was working the first time. Apologies for any slightly rough edges as a result.
