Cryptic crossword No 3,523

Great theme! I especially enjoyed the clues at 31a and 4d.

Thanks, Tug, really good puzzle. I didn't spot the theme but it didn't matter. Your clueing struck me as quite Fed-like (lots of little bits like single letter deletions etc but still elegant surfaces which didn't seem forced). My favourites included 6a, 15a, 16a, 4d, 9d, 17d, 28d. Cheers!
