Great puzzle, thanks! I did about 10 then revealed: not because I wasn't enjoying, rather because I don't have time for multiple full-size grids. Parsing is excellent I think, often sophisticated: e.g. 13a, nicely done. The puzzle needs a lot of general (?) knowledge that I don't have: not just theme, also say 21a and 27a. That's not a critique, just a comment. Not entirely convinced by definition in 15a. Thank you!

Enjoyed this, thanks. Knowing who the setter is helps with 3d 16d.

Thanks for that, Skirwingle - I'm not especially familiar with the theme and originally bunged in an anagram of 8d's surname which held me up a bit but that's my fault! I especially liked 1a, 13a, 28a, 10d, and a special shout-out for 22d...
