Cryptic crossword No 413

Good stuff HairApparent, plenty to like here - a few I'm not keen on but they amused me regardless :). In particular I liked 11a, 12a (nice def), 19a ("first person to be" is very neat), 27a (Yankees logo is a novel way of cluing that), 1d and 16d. Spoilers in reply...

Thanks for the workout HairApparent. This puzzle was full of wonderful definitions, challenging wordplay and was well composed all round. Loads to like, but particular favourites were 11a (lovely def), 12a (similar), 19a (nice wordplay), 23a (lovely surface), 26a (your hiddens are top notch), 1a (likewise - stumped me for ages!), 3a (liked the idea, but needed a reveal for me), 5a (similarly), 8d (great clue all round), 13a (lovely surface), 24a (neat) - well done!
