HA, I agree with Guava that the puzzle was highly entertaining. I love a clue like 15d. But I did think there was room to make the puzzle even better by making some clues leaner. In 1a, for example, I saw "chipmunk" and was able to guess at the solution. But what was I to take from "in a burger?" Of course, one could make a chipmunkburger, but I think crossword clues are stronger when based on generally recognized phenomena rather than the setter's private flights of fancy.......

You're up against it, this morning, HA. You've slotted in between Paul's Guardian Prize and Monk in the Indy! So, no competition then 🤣 You held up very well; plenty to smile at from the outrageous 1a onwards. Lots of variety in technique and the parsing seemed pretty solid throughout. Favourites include: 14a, 19a, 27a (nice misdirect), 2d, 4d, 15d (COTD), 18d (nicely done), 21d, 24d (smile). Couple of spoilers in Reply. Well done and many thanks. PM

Thanks HairApparent, enjoyed solving this and found it a satisfying level of difficulty. Among a nicely varied clue selection I'll pick out 14a, 22a, 6d, 23d and 24d as favourites.
