Hex, enjoyable again: my favourites were 9a (nice, that’s not a common word in puzzles), 12a, 23a, 16d (excellent homophone). I let the theme appear without looking at your hint, and it was evident and helpful early on. Further comments are spoilers….

Thanks for the puzzle Hex, that was right up my street in terms of difficulty and proved most enjoyable. I particularly liked 9a (intricate and interesting surface), 23a (clean), 3d (neat construction), 6d (clean) and 20d (neat). Nicely done!

Hi Hex. You may not see this as I'm commenting a week on from publication but, having largely caught up, I have gotten around to it. Nice incorporation of your theme with some fun clues.
