Cryptic crossword No 75

I've tried to make this one easier than the last one! I hope it is.

Thanks Conto, that was certainly a bit easier than some of your other crosswords, but still a good challenge and very enjoyable. Favourite clues were 4a, 10a, 11a, 1d, 2d, and best of all: 12d which I really should have got quicker than I did. Also honourable mentions for "cups" in 15a and "Trump" in 24a for raising a smile.

Really liked this one. Level of difficulty was just right for me and an excellent variety of clues. I'm always impressed by good cryptic definitions as (a) most attempts are pretty weak and (b) I'm really bad at doing them myself. So full marks for the excellent 2d and 12d!

Thanks for this Conto, much enjoyed and yes a bit easier! What held me up longest was 12d - most annoyingly seeing as I was browsing over some 'quietude' earlier today... Loved the post-Trump announcement - I recall that Dustin Hoffman was a bit more succinct in one of his movies. But, if I may say so: "Why the long face?"
