Enjoyed that with a few laughs to-boot - 8a and 26a for example! Thank you!

Nice puzzle with some interesting words. 24a has a lovely surface, 6d is very clever and 8a gave me a chuckle. Thanks Gollum.

Thanks Gollum! Some really nice ones (8a, 12a, 23a, 24a) but quite a few I found difficult to fully parse (e.g. 1d, 2d, 5d, 11a, 26a). It may be because some of them include references I'm unfamiliar with. I've never seen that use of "George" before either!

Some really good stuff here, especially as I've now seen how 1D works. 1AC, 12A , 21A, 26A, 3D, 22D were all clever clues, and smooth surfaces too. I couldn't parse a few. In some struggled to identify the definitions eg 9A (unless 'say' is doing double duty?), and 15D.

Phew - got there in the end! I see people have struggled with your compound anagram clue as they did with mine. Took me a while to parse your different clue for the word that our two grids share, but it made sense when the penny dropped :-)

Thanks Gollum. There are some good ideas here. In my opinion, the most successful clues are 1A, 13A, 25A, 22D. There were quite a few I couldn't parse, though I think most of these have been explained elsewhere in the comments.

Quite a tough one Gollum, but enjoyable all the same. You take a few liberties in places, like 11a (indirect anag). Liked 23a and 1d in particular. Couldn't parse 2d, maybe I'm lacking some GK?

I enjoyed this, thank you, though needed a little help in the end and couldn’t parse everything. Mostly explained in the comments. Thought lots of these clues were very clever. My favourite clues were 3d and 21a

Following your comments about my first two grids, I thought I'd better look for one of yours. You know of what you speak, sir. Highlights for me included 1a, 12a, 19a, 23a and 18d. I was able to solve these from the clues; others I needed the help of crossing letters. My favourite was 3d.
