Cryptic crossword No 801

Oh I enjoyed that a lot! Quite a steady solve, not too easy but not too tough either. Some really lovely clues including the long ones around the outside edges (especially 8d and 25a), 13a, 16a, 7d and 19d. Great fun, thanks 😊

Thanks for the puzzle Maya! I liked the way you handled the longer entries and employed some creative wordplay throughout. I particularly liked 13a (clean), 16a (neat), 21a (neat), 22a (very neat), 25a (nice reference), 2d (clean), 3d (neat), 4d (neat), 5d (very neat), 8d (I love long clues like this, great fun) and 22d (clean). I solved this one on twitch a few days ago and the crew and I really enjoyed it. Especially liked 21, 18, 10, 14, what I found to be a pleasant piece of misdirection at 23, and of course the 8d/25a pair. Still laughing about the definition on 13!
