Cryptic crossword No 82

Thanks for this, some nice clues here. I liked 7a and 27a when I'd finally parsed them, and 13a was quite fun.

Thanks for this Grub, nice puzzle, much to like. I'll put ticks against quite a lot: 7a, 9a, 14a, 22a, 24a, 27a, 3d, 11d (favourite), 23d - but these choices are fairly arbitrary. No real niggles - try and get better surfaces - for example what is "empyrean" doing in 22d? (SPOILERS: )
