Wrt Annotations, picnic, I suspect some of yours may have been written in the Notes box rather than the Explanations box. It is the latter that will appear to solvers as Annotations. Congratulations on your debut. I'd agree with the advice to do a bit of reading up on clue construction for your next puzzle. And give yourself some easier solutions to clue. Do keep at it. Thanks. Somewhat belatedly, welcome, picnic; and thank you for an interesting puzzle. I agree with others that there are a number of issues - in particular, one problem seems to occur four times - but you also come up with a number of clues which are quite first-rate. My favourites were 21a, 4d and 16d. Spoilers in reply.
