Hi Tink. Just ran through this fairly quickly, needed a few reveals to keep going, more because I'm not a great solver than because it's particularly hard. My guess is that others will find this fairly easy. 1d, 14d, 10a, 18a, 26a and 27a were my favourites. But there are several I don't understand. I assume 9a, 22d are double definitions but I only see one, and I've no idea how 15a and 16d work. If you have annotated solutions on the way fine - I'll check tomorrow. A bit more to follow.

Thanks Tink, lots to enjoy here - faves 7a (nice chess surface), 17a (tried to justify HENRY for ages), 26a, 27a, 2d, 6d, 8d (lol "that's delicious"), 14d &16d (once finally parsed - I think it's just about on the right side of fair!) Spoilers ...

Rather late to this, Tink, but I've actually had some work to do and I'm also putting time into my own current project and a couple of test solves. Busy PM. But I'm glad I gave this a go. Hard to believe it's just your fourth in terms of inventiveness. But, as Starhorse and Fez have detailed, there's learning points wrt construction and they make some great points - to which I will not add as there's enough there to be going on with! Faves included 7a, 17a, 26a, 28a, 12d, 14d. 8d COTD
