Cryptic crossword No 875

Lovely puzzle, nice level of difficulty and some very clever clueing. I particularly liked the four long ones plus 15a, 8a, 22a, 3d and 5d. There are a handful I haven’t parsed so if you have the annotated notes that’d be great. I do have a slightly spoilery comment in the reply. Thanks for an enjoyable puzzle!

Thanks McKay, enjoyable with some very clever clues. Favourites include 8a (nice def), 10a, 18a (though possibly ambiguous, reliant on crossers ... and my spelling failed me for a while!), 19a, 22a, 1d, 17d & 21d. Spoilers ...
