Cheers, Ottsel - consistently good fun throughout! Highlights for me were the reference in 11a, the chuckle I got out of 27a, the surfaces of 5d & 16d (the definition of the former & the wordplay of the latter both brilliant in their respective contexts), and the simple elegance of 6d. Anyways, I was pretty sure I'd solved a puzzle of yours /ages/ ago, recognising your excellent choice of pseudonym, so I went to your profile and saw them all laid out... touché, Ottsel, touché.

Hi Ottsel. I enjoyed this - sorry to be a bit late in getting around to commenting. Lots of nice stuff with several favourites that stood out including 9a, 12a, 24a, 5d (ha ha), 14d and 18d. Spoilers in Reply. Thanks. PM

Thanks Ottsel, lots of fun with many amusing surfaces - my faves were 11a (a phrase learned from crosswords - surface just about covers the US indicator!), 15a, 27a (always love a maths reference), 5d, 14d & 20d (very nice even if a little chestnutty). Spoilers ...
