Cryptic crossword No 990

Hello Soup. This is a 28d visit from you. Although from 20a etc, I was taken by the surfaces when I glanced at this and have just completed. A delightful gentle puzzle; many congratulations on the consistency of the theming. With a tiny bit of Google Maps help plus finding a vital word early in a local website, I was able to overcome lack of local knowledge and sail through. Favourites included 9a, 20a etc (obviously), 22a, 23a, 7d, 14d, 25d. Thanks. PM

Welcome to MyC Soup, and thanks for sharing the delightful puzzle. Nicely themed and a nice level of difficulty, this made for a satisfying solve. I particularly liked 9a (surface resonated), 11a (smooth), 15a (fun surface), 23a (smooth), 3d/4d (cute), 6d (nice indication), 14d (smooth), 23d (neat), 26d (cute) and 28d (smooth).
