Quick crossword No 36

I found this difficult sidakka. If it helps, I find my own puzzles are inadvertently harder than I think they will be: it always seems easy when you know the wordplay! So I am learning slowly that it’s probably better to err on the easier end of the spectrum (especially in a quick)! In my case, I’m often directed by making a pleasing surface but that has led to what has been diplomatically described (and helpfully) as some ‘chewy wordplay’. I’ll pop by later with some notes on the clues.

I suppose I did intend to make this one challenging but fair, although I fear I have not quite realised the latter!
