Cryptic crossword No 1,491

Hi Quetzal, with comments scarce (so many puzzles!), I’ll offer what I can. Other opinions available! I had a good tussle with your puzzle, and thought many clues were excellent, including 7a, 10a, 12a (funny, nicely silly), 4d, 16d, 22d/8a. The list betrays that I prefer short, witty clues. My suggestion, with no special authority, would be to strive for a higher content of clues of that kind. Spoilers to follow……..
