Lots of fun here, I think 23a was my favourite. I have a question too

I am always somewhat relieved when I get to the end of one of yours, Longy. Which sounds worse than it's meant to! Your puzzles absolutely keep me on my toes from #1 to #31 and I am often fearful that I'll not manage to see through your deviousness. You did beat me on one - which is a lovely spot (I think I *might* have encountered it before but long enough ago to have forgotten. Otherwise, all solved and parsed bar one. 1a, 6a, 21a, 30a, 4d, 5d, 7d, 14d, 26d, 29d my faves. Thanks. PM
